Murphy's Texas Hold 'em Laws
Okay so eight weeks ago I got dragged along to a poker game with The Australian Poker League which by the way is better and more professional than the NPL but that’s for another day.
Anyhow it seems I have some sort of natural affinity for the game. Having played a lot of chess and Eucha I seem to have a good strategy and know how to calculate the odds. (Blows own trumpet loudly)
Ever mindful of the addictive nature of things like this I have imposed guidelines on how often I play and the circumstances but that’s not what this is about either.
This is about Murphy’s Texas Hold ‘em Laws. In my short poker career I have noticed that the much maligned Murphy and his laws exist within this game. These are what I have noticed so far. If you have more please add them.
1) When you almost play 10, 6 off suit or a similar poor starting hand but wisely fold. The flop always would have made you a full house or straight if you had played but never ever helps if you do play the hand.
2) If you are chasing a card and choose to fold after the turn said card will always appear on the river. If you call you NEVER get the card you are chasing.
3) Maniacs always get the cards they need to beat you but never anyone else on the
table.
4) If you are playing on line your connection will drop out every time you get a great hand.
5) Never ever go all in pre flop with a suited A, K as the person with a low pocket pair will call and get three of a kind thus winning the hand. However when you call such a bet with a low pocket pair they always get the ace or king.
I have more but right now my head is aching so I will post this and perhaps add to it later
