The Armchair Bookers Tackle Wrestlemania
Well it’s that time of year again. Wrestling websites are awash and messageboards are buzzing as The Armchair Bookers Tackle Wrestlemania.
Now admittedly I haven’t been watching much wrestling of late and am still to see an episode of ECW but I sort of know what’s going on. I have watched the last two weeks of Raw and not a lot seems to have changed since DX made me switch the channel over to the comedy channel. So here is my Wrestlemania card.
Match 1. Fatal four way match to unify the WWE and World Tag Team titles.
The Hardy Boys vs MNM vs London and Kendrick vs The Worlds Greatest Tag team
Tag teams seem to be jumping from brand to brand as late and there really aren’t enough for two divisions so WM presents a perfect time to unify the titles and have roaming champs. I have heard whispers of a TLC tag match at mania but honestly I wouldn’t have two gimmick matches on the card so if I am going to have a Money in the bank ladder match I will go with just the normal tag match here. Though a TLC match would be great. If the E want to end MNM forever (in light of Nitro’s singles push) then they can also do it in this match. Have a match at backlash between Nitro and Mercury and then send Joey of to jobber land.
Match 2. “The Backbreak Kid” Shawn Micheals Vs “The smoking bag defacer” Randy Orton.
Rated RKO and DX are feuding right? I almost put HHH vs Shawn here because DX is going to split and these two will work a program for the 1000th time trust me. However HHH must be in the main event so have this little match up which could be fun and would be easy to build. Shawn tosses Randy from the rumble, randy causes Shawn to be tossed. Voila easy. Oh and it also keeps Orton out of the main event. Many are tipping Orton to win the rumble. They are stupid.
Match 3. Umaga Joe vs Big Drippy Mark Henry.
Yep Henry returns as Mania. This is booked as an open challenge. EEA comes out and rags on how no one can stop the Samoan Bulldozer and out comes Mark to deathly silence and ends the run of Umaga.
Austin stuns some people in some segment.
Match Four 4. Money in the bank Ladder Match.
CM Punk Vs Benoit Vs Mysterio Vs Carlito Vs Kenny vs Masters
Punk wins and goes on to win the ECW title
Match 5. WWE title Match HHH vs Cena Vs Edge
Triple threat match so Cena can lose without being pinned and thus remain invincible. HHH hasn’t had the big belt for a while so he pins Edge here and then feuds with (a heel?) Cena for a while.
Match 6 ECW Title Match. Lashley vs Test.
What other match can they have? No way Punk or Thorn are getting a headline singles match at Mania.
Match 7. Hogan vs Big Show
Hogan will be at mania you can bank on it. This match was rumoured ages ago and I think it will still happen provided Show is well enough.
Match 8. Taker Vs Batista for the World title.
Taker wins the rumble and this match. The WM streak is Takers legacy and he will never lose it. He gets a title run and then retires.
Match 9. some sort of women’s match somewhere in the middle of the card for toilet break reasons.
So yeah there is my mania card and I really hope the bookers at WWE come up with something way different and way better than that but that card uses all the main players on the roster. I really believe the card will look something like that and it just goes to show how lacking of a big draw the current roster is. They may well have the tag match a TLC match to spice up the card and try and get a few more buys.
I think I am also in fantasy land by not booking a McMahon appearance anywhere on the show.
